In Early Years and Year One it is important that we form our numbers correctly. We will be practising starting our numbers in the correct place and writing them the correct way round.

We use these rhymes to help us remember how to write our numbers. It would also be helpful if you could help your child to practise these as frequently as possible.

Writing our letters the correct way round is a tricky challenge at the start of Year One. We spend a lot of time practising where to start our letters and which way round to write them. We sometimes find little rhymes help us to remember how each one is made.

We will also be practising to form Capital letters correctly. At the start of the year we really try hard to form all the letters in our first and last names correctly.

As the year moves on we will be looking at spelling and handwriting patterns to help us learn how to join our diagraphs within words.
