We really enjoyed our class visit to Carnforth Library on Wednesday 30th November. We listened to a story read by Diane, chose our own books to read and completed a word search. It is great to be able to visit the library again.
As part of our science learning on inheritance and adaptation, we carried out an experiment called Battle of the Beaks. We used different implements such as scissors, tweezers, clothes pegs and teaspoons for the bird's beaks and frozen peas, small pasta and elastic bands for the food. We had 10 seconds to see how many of each item we could pick up with the implements. Some were more difficult than we thought they would be!
We had an exciting whole school assembly from the Mad Science team. We were "wowed" by some of the experiments the lady showed us.
In English, to link in with this term's topic about Sustainability, we have written biographies about Sir David Attenborough. To create interest, we watched clips from Planet Earth and speeches from Greta Thunberg. We then did some hot seating around this famous environmentalists.
