Spring Term 1

ENGLISH
In English this half term, we have studied the film 'The Piano' by Aidan Gibbons. We used freeze framing and thought tracking to capture some of the key moments in the film. We used speech, thought and feeling bubbles to infer what the main character(s) would think, say and feel during these key moments. Finally, we wrote a first person flashback narrative, in role as the old man.
MATHS - Angles and outdoor learning
In our unit learning about angles, we took our learning outside on Number Day, to investigate angles in the environment. We found right angles, acute and obtuse angles, straight lines - which we know add up to 180 degrees, vertically opposite and angles and angles around a point (which we know add up to 360 degrees)
Who knew there were so many angles in our school environment!
ART - STILL LIFE
In our Art lessons this half term, we have studied the artist Paul Cezanne. We used shade, tone, colour and discussed the mood created in some of his pictures. Year Six then used art pencils and blended water colours to draw fruit in the style of Cezanne.
