Summer Term 2

Here's a link to the planning for Summer Term 2

We love our phonics games! Here are Year 1 and Year 2 playing 'Musical Words'.

In maths, Year 1 and Year 2 have been learning about volume and capacity. The children have learned what volume and capacity means, how to measure in ml and l, how to estimate capacity using common reference points, and how to read different scales on measuring vessels.

In English we have been reading poems on a seaside theme. The children explored different seaside poems, thinking about likes/dislikes, similarities/differences, descriptive vocabulary, similes and patterned language. They rehearsed and performed different seaside poems.

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been practising their bike skills this half-term.

In Design Technology, Year 1 and Year 2 designed and made a healthy snack. They created funny faces on bread rolls, using a variety of fruit and vegetables. The children followed their design plans and used different skills, including spreading, chopping, and slicing. They enjoyed eating their healthy snack on our Morecambe Visit the following day!

To celebrate our learning about Morecambe Bay, Reception, Year 1 and Year to had a visit to Morecambe Beach and Happy Mount Park. Despite the wet weather, the children made the most of it on the beach, digging holes, building sandcastles, drawing in the sand, and making sand angels! We walked along the promenade to Happy Mount Park, where the staff were all so very kind and let us take shelter in their cafe for our picnic lunch, followed by playing in the soft play and enjoying an ice-cream!
