Safeguarding Statement

Carnforth Community Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils. We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm, and that the child or young person’s welfare is our paramount concern.

We believe that Carnforth Community Primary School should provide a secure environment for our pupils, where children feel safe and are kept safe.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

We have a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).  Our lead DSL is Sarah Hudd (Headteacher) and the deputy DSL is Megan Rae.

We are also proud to be part of the Operation Encompass information sharing platform which aims to ensure all children experiencing domestic abuse receive timely support in their school no matter where in the world the child lives.
