Spring 1

In Maths, Reception have been making 10 and counting to 20. Year 1 have been finding 1 more, 1 less than a given number within 50 and using a part-part-whole model for addition and subtraction.

The children have been engaged in lots learning around out topic, 'Arctic Adventures'. The children have learnt about the Arctic and Antarctica, including where they are on a world map, the oceans, the climate and seasons, Inuit customs and traditions, and all about Arctic and Antarctic animals. Reception and Year 1 have enjoyed making small and large scale igloos, Arctic animal crafts, playing an Arctic animal matching game, and drawing the Northern Lights.

As part of Reception's 'Animals' topic and Year 1 Science learning, the children have enjoyed playing in our Vets role play area, learning about the features of different animals, their diet, and putting them in their animal groups, and we also had a special visitor in school, Lucy the Border Collie!

In PE, Reception and Year 1 have been practising travelling in different ways, different types of rolls, and balancing.

We always love outdoor learning!

Reception and Year 1 have enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year!
