Squirrel Class have enjoyed their history topic this half-term, 'Dinosaur Discoveries'. They have learned about the life of Mary Anning and why she is remembered today. They have also learned about fossils and different types of dinosaurs. The children enjoyed making their own dinosaur fossils with salt dough.

In maths, Year 1 have learned about doubling and halving, making equal groups, sharing equally, and measuring length and height.

Reception have been using part-part-whole models in maths to support learning addition and subtraction facts.

In English, we shared the story Jack and the Beanstalk. They used a hot seating activity, asking 'The Giant' questions to learn more about his character in preparation for writing a character description.

Squirrel class loved World Book Day! The children enjoyed taking part in a variety of activities including making bookmarks, designing book covers, and sharing their favourite books with their peers and children from KS2. The children took part in a STEM challenge based around the story, Jack and the Beanstalk. They had to make something to help Jack protect the egg as he drops it down the beanstalk. The children worked in small groups as 'engineers', testing, improving and finding the limit of their designs!

Squirrel class have planted seeds for spring flowers, outdoors, and made cress heads.

In RE, Year 1 and Year 2 have been learning about Judaism. They learned about the history of the festival of Sukkot and how this is celebrated by Jewish families today. The children worked in small groups to create a Sukkah.
