Spring Term 2

Year 1 and Year 2 took their maths learning outdoors to solve addition and subtraction missing number problems, using outdoor resources . Year 1 created part-part-whole models and Year 2 made bar models to help them.

The children developed a wide range of art and design techniques when creating 3D dinosaur models.

In English, we have been exploring Fairy Tales. We listened to the story Jack and the Beanstalk then worked in small groups, rehearsing and performing part of the story. We thought carefully about the characters in the story and worked in pairs to create character descriptions.

Year 1 and Year 2 have been learning about multiplication and division in maths. The children used practical resources to double and halve numbers, make arrays for multiplication, and divide by sharing and grouping. The children enjoyed a practical activity using mini cookies to divide by sharing equally - the best part was eating them at the end!

In P.E. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been practising their rolling and bouncing skills.

For World Book Day, we enjoyed dressing up as a book character or in our pyjamas with a favourite book to snuggle with! We took part in lots of activities around World Book Day, including sharing stories with Year 5 children, designing book covers, making bookmarks, and creating a paper plate 'Evil Pea' from the story 'Supertato'.
