At Carnforth Community Primary School the statutory elements of the National Curriculum are planned out over the two-year rolling programme of themes to ensure the best coverage of key elements in our setting. The learning across the two years is carefully organised to give the best sequence and progression of skills and to give the children the opportunity to apply their skills in a variety of contexts. The coverage and context are recorded across a Curriculum Journey to show the sequential and cumulative nature of the children’s learning.
Each term the areas of the curriculum to be covered through the topic are mapped out so that coverage can be tracked across the year. These are sent home to parents and shared with Governors at the beginning of each term to show them what the children will be learning through the topic and how their learning connects through each subject.
